Stuart is head of our Employment Law department. He qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and has 28 years' of experience acting for FTSE 100 companies, public sector organisations in relation to all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law.
Stuart is presently Convenor of the Law Society of Scotland Accreditation Panel for Discrimination Law and a member of the Law Society of Scotland Diversity and Equality Committee. He is accredited by Scotland’s leading mediation provider, Core Mediation, as a mediator. Stuart is a member of the Law Society of Scotland, a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.
Stuart presently acts for clients ranging from global oil and gas companies, national construction companies and legal firms. He advises and represents clients at Employment Tribunals and Employment Appeal Tribunals in matters ranging from unfair dismissal and whistleblowing to discrimination and equal pay. He also advises companies regarding the employment law elements of business mergers, acquisitions and restructuring.
