Our debt recovery solicitors use the latest technology and focus on providing you with a high-quality and cost-effective service to secure repayment as quickly as possible.

Outstanding debts can severely impact your business’s cash flow and growth potential. Whether you’re dealing with overdue invoices, unpaid rent, or breach of contract disputes, professional debt recovery legal services are essential for protecting your financial interests. Gilson Gray offers debt recovery legal services in the UK, including Lincoln, London, Aberdeen, East Lothian, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Forfar, and the surrounding areas. We understand that every debt recovery case requires a careful balance between speed, cost-effectiveness, and maintaining professional relationships.
Effective debt recovery forms the backbone of healthy business operations. When customers fail to pay on time, it creates a ripple effect that can strain your own supplier relationships, limit growth opportunities, and impact day-to-day operations. The longer debts remain outstanding, the less likely they are to be recovered successfully. Many organisations attempt to manage debt collection internally, but this approach often proves time-consuming and ineffective. Legal expertise becomes crucial when dealing with evasive debtors, disputed claims, or complex contractual arrangements. Professional debt collection solicitors bring the authority and knowledge needed to achieve swift resolutions while protecting your legal position throughout the process.
This is not a service we offer in England.
We have experience working in all industries, but here are a few examples below:

Commercial debt recovery requires a sophisticated understanding of business relationships and contractual obligations. Our approach balances the need for swift action with the importance of preserving valuable business relationships where possible.
For residential debt matters, we provide sensitive handling of personal financial difficulties while ensuring our clients recover what they’re legitimately owed. This includes work with housing providers, utility companies, and other service providers dealing with consumer debt issues.

We will respond via the appropriate form of communication immediately
We will meet with you to talk and consider your paperwork. We will provide you with options for recovery of the debt, estimated costs and timescales.
We will write to the debtor with a formal demand for payment.
We lodge court proceedings seeking orders for payment of the debt together with our costs on top of the sums due the client.
We will serve these papers on the debtor and engage with them to try and extract payment from them for you.
If the action is defended the case is passed to one of our specialist solicitors to bring the case to a successful conclusion.
If the action is not defended or if you succeed in the defended action we obtain a Decree/Judgment from the Court.
We advise you on what can be done with the decree and we suggest the most efficient and cost effective way forward.
We then press on with our recovery process utilising our close ties with Sheriff Officers, uplift agents, trace agents and auction houses.
This normally results in a successful result for you, with the debtor paying the majority if not all of our clients’ legal costs on top of the sums due to them.
