Legal 500 recommendations

Legal 500 recommendations

The firm is delighted to receive a series of recommendations again as a Leading Firm in the Legal 500, with a number of additional key individuals being recommended, in recognition of our experience and expertise in a number of areas.

In particular, our Litigation & Dispute Resolution Team were recommended for Commercial Litigation, as follows:

“Gilson Gray acts for clients in a wide variety of general commercial disputes, as well as in contentious construction and insolvency matters. In addition to commercial litigation, the firm is active in domestic and international arbitrations; team head Iain Clark specialises in arbitral disputes involving the energy sector (oil and gas, and renewables), as well as construction and engineering. In an illustration of its capacity to handle multi-jurisdictional disputes, Clark (who is also a solicitor advocate) acted for sportswear importer and distributor Wilson Imports as the pursuer in a contractual dispute with a French company at the Court of Session. Also recommended are solicitor advocates Alex Garioch (who is ‘clever and articulate’, according to clients) and Steven Jansch, who is ‘tenacious, even when faced with an uphill battle’; the ‘very astute’ Rosie Walker; and associate Keith Anderson, who is ‘just what a client could wish for’.”

Our Insolvency, Debt Recovery and Real Estate Teams were also recommended for Insolvency and Corporate Recovery, as follows:

“Gilson Gray’s strengths in a wide range of disciplines enable it to provide an extensive insolvency offering. Steven Jansch, who is accredited by the WS Society in commercial litigation, and is also accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as an insolvency law specialist, works with others on restructurings, insolvency appointments and insolvency litigation. Craig Darling, who heads the business restructuring and recoveries team, has experience of practising in England and Scotland, and acts for creditors, directors, liquidators and fixed charge receivers, among others. Real estate head Murray Stewart is experienced in matters such as administrations of property companies and the realisation of distressed property assets, among other areas. David Alexander’s workload includes debt recovery matters that have insolvency-related issues. In a notable highlight, a team including Darling and Alexander acted for the board of directors in the restructuring, debt recovery and insolvency of Caledonian Marts (Stirling).”
