The Family Law Reunion

The Family Law Reunion

Sally Nash Philippa CunniffAs divorce and family lawyers, reunions aren’t something that we get to talk about very often.  However, it has very much been the theme for us this week.  After working together at Turcan Connell from 2004 to 2012 until Philippa left to head up HBJ Gateley’s Family Law Team, we have now reunited (along with our fantastic secretary Michelle MacNaughton who has remained with Philippa throughout) to establish a Family Law Team at Gilson Gray.

Where there is a shared history, there are often shared values too, and that is certainly the case for us.  The foremost of those values is our commitment to delivering a top notch quality of service to clients.

As accredited specialists in family law the core part of our day is usually advising on the myriad of financial and other issues which arise following a relationship breakdown.  However, we have a mutual passion for some of the more specialised aspects of relationship breakdown.  This includes an undeniably geeky level of interest in jurisdiction, as a result of which we are both regularly involved in cases with an international or cross-border element.  Indeed, it is this interest that prompted both of us to qualify and enrol as solicitors in England and Wales as well as Scotland.

We are also both passionate about the significant (but all too seldom recognised) impact that family law issues can have on wealth protection, and this has led to us being involved in the preparation of Agreements aimed at protecting wealth such as Prenuptial, Postnuptial and Cohabitation Agreements.

It is therefore true for us that, as with every good reunion, there is the inevitable symbiosis of a shared past. However, as we all know, what makes a good reunion into a great reunion (other than pink fizz of course) is the promise and potential of all the new and exciting things still to come.  We both look forward with great excitement to a future building a top family law team at Gilson Gray.
