Findlay Anderson

Findlay is a Partner in our Corporate / Energy team. With over 20 years’ experience in the Energy / Oil & Gas industry and 14 years in international in-house “Head of Legal / General Counsel” positions, Findlay has a wealth of experience advising on a vast array of issues impacting business globally and locally.

    Findlay has acted for companies ranging from small 4-man management teams to SMEs to large global corporations. He has advised and supported businesses on operational and legal issues arising in every continent globally. After 9 years advising and working for upstream and downstream companies acquiring, developing and managing operations, Findlay spent 11 years as General Counsel for multiple businesses within GE Oil & Gas / Baker Hughes - a global Fortune 250 equipment and services company. With particular specialism overseeing operations on complex infrastructure projects, Findlay has advised on issues ranging from high value EPCI project and supply chain negotiations to international and local joint ventures and consortia, localisation, dispute resolution, customs, tax, immigration and more. Findlay has navigated numerous high value Arbitrations and High Court actions in jurisdictions ranging from Australia and Africa to Norway and the UK.

    In addition, Findlay has advised businesses on Government Relations & Regulatory issues in multiple jurisdictions, including grant support and awards, company-to-country agreements, production sharing contracts, and navigating complex international sanctions impacting operations nationally and internationally.

    He has also spent years leading global and local teams in Crisis Management, Enterprise Risk and Diversity and Inclusion, winning multiple industry awards in the process. Findlay currently chairs the Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) industry Diversity & Inclusion Task Group.

    Findlay was previously shortlisted for the Rising Star of the Year award at the Legal Business Awards. He was separately a finalist at the same awards and highlighted in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Supplement for his work supporting a client on a successful €100M dispute in the High Court.

    • Launch and operation of global EPC consortium alliance covering $3B of infrastructure projects
    • Successful resolution of multiple $150M+ contract disputes
    • Designed, operationalised and oversaw global sanctions compliance program for $800M project involving 2500+ people and hundreds of vendors over multi-year execution
    • COVID Crisis Manager for Europe overseeing operations involving 17,000 people in 20+ countries
    • Launched and grew UK and global D&I Councils achieving multiple industry awards and recognition.
