Calum Crighton

Calum is a Partner, heading up our Oil & Gas/Energy team. He is recognised as a leader in his field and well-respected for ability to advise all companies from oil & gas majors right through to SMEs, with a particular expertise in decommissioning.

Expertise

With over 16 years’ experience in all aspects of the offshore oil & gas / renewables industries, Calum has built up a strong expertise in supply chain and upstream oil & gas commercial contracts.  Calum is dual qualified in Scots and English law.  Most of his career has been in international law firms and as senior in-house industry lawyer, with proven experience in oil & gas, specialising in Decommissioning, Supply Chain Commercial Contracts, Energy Transition and Joint Venture Management.

Calum has recently worked with (amongst others), E&P companies, such as Premier Oil, Fairfield Energy, Total, Rhum and Talisman and supply chain companies, such as ODE Group, DOF Subsea, First Subsea, Peak Well Systems, Clearwell Oilfield Services, Dangote Industries, Interventek Subsea Engineering, WellSense Technologies, ToolTec, Aventus AI, Oxford Flow, Cetco Energy Services, HCS Control Systems and WellConnection IOS on contract drafting and negotiations in relation to JV agreements, manufacturing, engineering, supply, rental, distribution, agency and IP contracts in a variety of jurisdictions, including the UK, Texas, Egypt, Oman, Azerbaijan, New York, Sweden, Norway, Australia and New Zealand.

Recent examples of Calum’s work include:

  • Being engaged on the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline construction contract
  • Negotiating licensing arrangement in relation to deployment of downhole trigger
  • Advising on the Darwin drilling campaign, including drilling contracts and drilling consortium arrangement.
  • Various farm-out agreements and sale & purchase agreements in relation to offshore oil & gas assets
  • Extensive legal and commercial due diligence on various oil & gas assets on behalf of several E&P companies
  • Various offshore supply chain contracts for various clients over a number of years, including services, rental and product supply contracts.
