Full-service legal firm Gilson Gray has promoted two experienced lawyers to partners, boosting its fast-growing property practice across Scotland and England.
Michael Anderson and Cheryl Edgar previously held legal director positions in the residential property team and are based in the firm’s offices in Edinburgh and East Lothian, respectively.
Michael joined Gilson Gray’s residential conveyancing division in 2018 following a five-year period with Purdie & Co Solicitors. His legal career spans 24 years, with nearly two decades specialising in property and the Edinburgh market, including buying, selling, remortgaging and representing buy-to-let investors.
Cheryl has over 30 years’ experience in conveyancing and property law covering Edinburgh and East Lothian. She joined Gilson Gray five years ago as senior associate and has been central to the development of its offering in North Berwick. Previously, Cheryl held roles at Garden Stirling Burnet and Anderson Strathern.
The new partners will help to oversee the growing department of around 50 property professionals across offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and East Lothian. Gilson Gray also offers property services from its office in Lincoln.
The partner announcements come as part of a series of promotions among Gilson Gray’s residential team, with a further seven new roles recently announced.
Michael Anderson said: “I’m thrilled to become a partner at one of Scotland’s most forward-thinking, progressive legal firms. Gilson Gray has a great residential offering and I’m proud of the way the department has developed in recent years, navigating a challenging property market. The firm continues to grow and expand its footprint across Scotland, and I am excited to be more involved in this next chapter.”
Cheryl Edgar said: “I look forward to the exciting business opportunities that this partner position will hold. I joined the conveyancing team at Gilson Gray in 2018 and have watched the firm continue to grow and strengthen its offering since then. It’s great to be part of such a successful property team representing clients across Scotland.”
Glen Gilson, chairman and managing partner of Gilson Gray, added:“Michael and Cheryl are experienced, talented lawyers and have helped to strengthen and develop Gilson Gray’s property division in recent years. Their promotions are well deserved and highlight our commitment to retaining the best talent across the firm.”
