Iain has extensive experience in high value contractual claims in the Commercial Court of the Court of Session, with a particular focus on using technology to assist in evidence recovery and the presentation of cases in Court.
Recent career highlights include:
- Acting in a high value Oil and Gas dispute involving 30 witnesses to fact, 13 expert witnesses and the laws of 8 different jurisdictions.
- Playing a central role in many of the first high value cases to call before the Scottish Courts following the COVID 19 pandemic and helping to shape how those cases were heard virtually.
- Representing a client in a high value tax case in the UK Supreme Court.
- Acting in the first Election Petition to be raised in Scotland in over 50 years.
- Acting in a number of high value International Arbitrations including cases in DIAC and the LCIA.
- Acting in a high value fraud case with quantum of £500M in the Commercial Court of the Court of Session.
Prior to qualification as a Solicitor, Iain worked for Morisons LLP for 10 years, starting his career as a temporary office junior whilst obtaining my Master of Arts with honours in Scottish and English Literature at Edinburgh University. Following graduation, he became one of the few Scottish Solicitors to qualify as a pre-diploma trainee.
