Derek Hamill

Derek is dual-qualified solicitor, registered in England and Scotland. He started his career in the legal team of a defence company in 1996. After entering private practice in 1998, he has focused on advising companies of all sizes on the legal issues they face. He specialises in advising owner-managers in connection with finance, contracts and structural issues, in particular acquisitions and disposals.

His commercially focused advice can include considering contracts outside the UK. The 2020 edition of the Legal 500 quotes clients as saying Derek’s “knowledge of international contract law and business is exceptional.”

He has an LLM (Legal Masters) with Distinction in IT & Telecoms Law, used when dealing with corporate work, including data and cybersecurity.
