Year-old law firm Gilson Gray is continuing to expand after announcing the hire of the commercial dispute resolution team from established firm Morisons.
Gilson Gray launched last year in Glasgow and Edinburgh with around a dozen partners hired from other prominent firms. It has now appointed Alex Garioch, formerly partner and head of litigation at Morisons, along with partner Rosie Walker and associate Keith Anderson as it builds its practice in this area.
Mr Garioch, a solicitor advocate, specialises in contentious construction disputes as well as commercial dispute resolution; Ms Walker acted for Alistair Carmichael MP in the recent election petition by voters challenging his return as MP after he admitted falsely denying his role in leaking a civil service memo concerning Fist Minister Nicola Sturgeon. Mr Anderson, an insolvency lawyer, was lead solicitor to BDO during its role as administrators of Heart of Midlothian FC.
Iain K Clark, partner and head of litigation and dispute resolution at Gilson Gray, said: “We are delighted to attract top lawyers such as Rosie and Alex to our expanding Litigation & Dispute Resolution Team.
“Their breadth and depth of experience compliments the services we provide to our existing clients and affords us the opportunity to become the ‘go to’ team in Scotland for complex litigation and dispute resolution.”
Name partner Glen Gilson said the firm’s impressive first year financial results, during which the firm posted “seven figure” profits, and its many award wins, were a positive endorsement of its client-focused business strategy. The firm hoped to announce “further senior appointments” over the next few weeks.
Earlier, Morisons announced that it had taken on the former dispute resolution team from McClure Naismith
