Who are we actually looking for?

By this point in your career, you will have worked exceptionally hard to get your law degree and are now thinking about Diploma, then traineeships.

There are plenty of recruitment programmes out there for all potential trainees to consider and on the basis that you are choosing a firm which not only aligns with your values, but also offers you the opportunity of a defined career path, it needs to be the right fit for both the trainee and the firm.

We are often asked during the internship process what sort of trainee we are looking for. Unfortunately there is never a complete answer that we can give, which is why we felt it would be helpful to at least point you in the right direction.

As a firm, one of our founding values was that we wanted to be different. To attract and retain the right people to the firm, they need to think differently. We don’t place any value on the school you went to, or even whether or not you got a first in your degree. We are very much focused on the personal attributes that you have and the values that you can bring to the firm. We are aiming to be the best law firm in Scotland, and that means recruiting and retaining the right people to deliver on that promise.

Our internship programme is our chance to find out more about you. Be honest in your application, be prepared to explain some of your answers and be ready to back up your choices.
