Gregor’s commercial and pragmatic approach to transaction delivery is borne of more than twelve years’ experience in the commercial real estate sector. One of only thirteen solicitors accredited by the WS Society for commercial property work, he is recognised not only for his ability to handle complex legal matters but to see them from the client’s perspective, taking a solution-focussed view.

Prior to joining Gilson Gray, he was the leading associate in the Scottish Real Estate Finance team of a top 20 UK nationwide law firm, routinely dealing with cross-border as well as local matters.

Gregor has also acted for a number of developers to acquire and secure sites for substantial redevelopment, as well as acting in the acquisition, asset management, and subsequent disposal of various investment portfolios with transaction highlights including:-

• Acquiring various areas of commercial forestry for London-based investment fund including negotiation of contract, detailed clawback provisions and forestry restocking agreements;

• Funding acquisition and development of various residential new-build and conversion programmes including high-profile sites in Edinburgh’s UNESCO designated old town heritage area;

• Appointment of administrators and thereafter realisation of securities and distressed sale of luxury country house hotel near Oban;

• Acting for established developers on acquisition of key development sites by both conditional contract and option to purchase and planning promotion agreement, including complex Sasine site assembly, negotiation of contract for deferred consideration, provision for clawback/overage and associated postponed security;

• Acting for developer clients in relation to acquisition of sites for high-end residential conversion in Glasgow’s prestigious Park District (conditional on planning for alterations to flatted dwellings with provision for erection of mews cottage);

• Acting for established London-based investment funds in portfolio of investment purchases across Scotland in joint venture with various offshore investors and dealing with all associated funding arrangements;

•Purchase and funding of existing student accommodation site and negotiating terms for new lease of subjects to University of Edinburgh following completion of refurbishment programme;

•Acquisition and forward funding of purpose-built student accommodation for leading UK operator in high-profile location for the University of St Andrews

Away from the office, Gregor is a keen musician and has performed in the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms and is currently one of the artistic directors of Glasgow Music Theatre.
