Doug is a Consultant in our Energy Law team, he is recognised as a leader in his field and well-respected for his particular strength advising on energy joint ventures often with an international element.
Expertise
With over 30 years’ experience in all aspects of energy law including PSCs, JVs, operating agreements, unitisation, field development financing and public issues, as well as contracting and procurement, and related disputes, Doug has particular experience in high value energy contract disputes with host governments and JV partners.
Doug has extensive experience gained both in private practice and in house as General Counsel leading legal teams in major energy companies in UK, Middle East and India. He advises energy clients on the full range of their legal matters including M&A, contracting and disputes and litigation.
He is accustomed to working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that clients’ needs are protected, including working alongside private client, tax, corporate, employment and pensions advisers in connection with the negotiation of acquisitions and divestments, start-ups, financings and in the preparation of complex JV and M&A agreements. Doug combines a commercially savvy pragmatic approach with breadth and depth of expertise to provide the best advice to his clients.
