Gilson Gray is delighted to announce one of the country’s top property lawyers is joining the firm to spearhead its expansion across Dundee and Tayside.
Lindsay Darroch, a respected industry heavyweight with 27 years’ experience, has been appointed Partner and Head of Gilson Gray’s Dundee office – continuing the firm’s record of securing the best talent in the market place.
Lindsay, whose main focus is property and private client work, will lead Gilson Gray’s sixth full-service office on South Tay Street, which opened earlier this year.
The Dundee local joins Gilson Gray from Aberdein Considine, where he was a Partner. Prior to this he spent 20 years at Blackadders LLP where he was part of the senior management team.
Lindsay, 49, said: “I’ve been incredibly impressed with Gilson Gray and its work for quite some time. Its energy and focus have really resonated with me and aligns with what I want the legal profession in Dundee to achieve.
“I strongly believe that there is an excellent opportunity in Dundee for a full-service law firm with that added personal approach and client-focused ethos.
“Gilson Gray’s enthusiastic, award-winning approach will be a disruptor in the market. There is nothing else really like this in terms of age and profile at the moment.
“As Partner and Head of the Dundee office, I will be responsible for further developing our presence and offering in Dundee, while also supporting my new colleagues.”
Lindsay specialises in all aspects of property law, including real estate, residential sales and purchases on behalf of individuals, developers, lenders and property investors. He also carries out client work acting for a growing number of private individuals and some local trusts.
He will work predominantly with property powerhouse Matthew Gray, and Debbie McCathie, one of the leading residential lawyers in Scotland who is responsible for one of the largest conveyancing practices in the country. He will also work closely with Murray Stewart, the experienced head of Real Estate.
Outside of his professional life, Lindsay is the company secretary for Dundee Football Club. He is also a board member of Caledonia Housing Association, Clerk and Boxmaster to The Nine Incorporated Trades of Dundee, and a trustee of DFC in the Community Trust.
Glen Gilson, Chairman and Managing Partner at Gilson Gray, said: “Lindsay is widely regarded as one of the leading lawyers in the Dundee area. We are delighted to have attracted such quality.
“He is a great guy and a perfect fit for our team – it is also exciting to be able to continue our investment in Dundee. Lindsay will play a vital role in further establishing Gilson Gray as part of the Dundee community.
“As a firm and as a Scottish business, this is an important step in our journey and progression throughout Covid and beyond.”
Gilson Gray’s hiring strategies since it was founded in 2014 has been to cherry-pick the most skilled and accomplished people to join its teams, which has seen swathes of the top legal, property and financial talent join the firm over the years.
Gilson Gray has become one of Scotland’s fastest growing and most prominent law firms. Its full suite of legal, property and financial services showcases one of the widest service ranges in the country.
Despite a market trend towards English takeover, Gilson Gray has kept its sovereignty and therefore ability to control its domestic pricing and provide a truly relevant product to the Scottish market.
