Gilson Gray has doubled the capacity of its centrally located Edinburgh office after rapid growth in its first three years surpassing even its most ambitious targets.
Our Edinburgh office, based at 29 Rutland Square in the heart of Edinburgh’s financial district, has expanded into the neighbouring four storey building at 25 Rutland Square, increasing its capital operations by more than 5,000 square foot.
Following on the back of the 3500 square foot expansion of its Glasgow office in 2016, the move will enable the full service firm to cater for further additions to its team, made possible following outstanding growth since its 2014 launch across both cities.
High profile acquisitions, which include the recruitment of the entire experienced Commercial Litigation team from Morisons Solicitors, a Residential Conveyancing team from Warners Solicitors, as well as notable growth within its Commercial Property and Employment Law teams have contributed to the growing headcount – with Gilson Gray now thought to be one of the fastest growing firms in the country.
Glen Gilson, Managing Partner, said: “We are fortunate that the support of our clients and the Scottish business community has enabled us to grow so quickly and safely.
“The Edinburgh based expansion, together with our similar move in Glasgow, affords the firm the ability to significantly expand our market share. We believe that we are leading the growth curve without requiring the assistance of an English parent and can offer a truly competitive product that the market has long required.”
“Our turnover and profit have grown significantly over the first three financial years, yet we generally can offer a more efficient price point for clients. This is because the firm was designed from launch to meet market need and make money, without the baggage of the traditionalistic law firm model. Clients are responding to this.”
Indeed since launch, Gilson Gray has secured an impressive array of clients including the likes of KPMG, First Mortgage, Your Move and CALA Homes. The firm has also acted as a beacon for legal talent, attracting most recently senior lawyers such as Commercial Property & Renewables expert Donna Kelly-Gilmour from Brodies, Residential Property expert Julian Scott from Aberdein Considine and Employment Law specialist Stuart Robertson from Ledingham Chalmers.
Glen added: “While the business has grown, the original firm philosophy continues to be the bedrock that we operate upon – to provide a transparently and persuasively priced service, whilst only recruiting Partners and staff that know how to engage properly with clients to make the service exceptional.”
The firm recently won ‘Litigation Firm of the Year’ at The Law Awards of Scotland, picked up ‘Best New Business’ at the Scottish Variety Awards, and secured further industry recognition with wins at the ACQ5 Awards and consecutive Acquisition International M&A Awards including best M&A firm.
In 2014, Gilson Gray opened as the largest full service law firm launch in Scottish legal history, with a portfolio of talent selected from the leading firms in Scotland – opening simultaneously in Glasgow and Edinburgh with a radical client-focus strategy that offers a cost effective alternative to the top ten firms in the country.
Its Glasgow office at 160 West George Street, along with the newly expanded Edinburgh site, offers specialist legal, property and financial services.
