The firm is delighted to announce that one of Scotland’s most respected family law solicitors is to join the firm as a Consultant.
A former Partner and Head of Family Law at Turcan Connell, Alasdair Loudon has nearly 40 years of experience in the field of family law.
He will use his role as a consultant to bring his wealth of experience to the highly-regarded family law team at Gilson Gray. Alasdair’s appointment underpins the ambition of Gilson Gray’s growing family law division, headed up by Partner Philippa Cunniff, to be Scotland’s best family law team.
Alasdair, who has handled some of Scotland’s most complex and high profile divorce and settlement cases, said: “I am delighted to be joining one of Scotland’s most progressive firms and in particular to renew my business relationship with Philippa Cunniff and Sally Nash with whom I enjoyed many successful years in practise. I look forward to helping them further build on the strength of Gilson Gray’s Family Law Team”
Established just over two years ago, the family law team at Gilson Gray has successfully grown to be one of the most prominent in Scotland.
The recently-published Chambers and Partners Guide 2020 recognised the family law department as a whole for the quality of its legal services, with several practitioners within it maintaining or being awarded individual rankings, including the retention by Department Head Philippa Cunniff of her individual Band 1 ranking.
Philippa said: “We are delighted that Alasdair has chosen to join us as a Consultant. This is a solid endorsement of the superb quality of the team and the service we offer within the family law sphere. Sally and I have worked with Alasdair in the past, and our shared history and values ensure that we share a clear focus on the importance of working as a strong team to provide a top quality service to our clients.
“In the relatively short period since establishing the Family Law Team at Gilson Gray, we have grown significantly and have established ourselves as one of the most highly regarded teams in Scotland. This year alone, we have seen the elevation of Sally Nash to Partner, and have been joined by Denise Laverty and Sarah Feeney in Glasgow. To now be able to announce Alasdair’s appointment as a Consultant is hugely exciting and demonstrates the firm’s commitment to the Team and the work we do.”
Many of the family law team are dual-qualified in both English and Scots law and both Alasdair Loudon and Philippa Cunniff are Fellows of the International Academy of Lawyers – of whom there are only seven of in Scotland – recognising their legal practice on an international scale.
Gilson Gray’s drive to hire only the best and brightest talent in the industry has seen our rapid growth to around 150 staff members in offices across Edinburgh, Glasgow and East Lothian.
