A Scottish law firm is adding to the positivity surrounding Watsonians FC’s New Myreside home – by agreeing a four figure sponsorship deal.

It follows the home team’s recent promotion to the top tier of amateur rugby after winning the BT National League Division 1, as well as the news that Pro12 contenders, Edinburgh Rugby, have agreed to move to the ground from their previous home at Murrayfield.

As a result of the sponsorship, which is a continuation from last year, Scotland’s largest new full service legal firm, Gilson Gray, will see its name emblazoned on goalposts as well as on assistant’s flags for the 2016/17 season.

Matthew Gray, a former Watsonians player and Managing Director of Gilson Gray Property Services, is delighted to announce the recent sponsorship deal with his old team.

Matthew, who also coached the Watsonian Warriors mini section, said: “The club has been a central part of the Edinburgh’s sporting scene since it was founded back in 1875 – so for our firm to be a key sponsor is a huge privilege.
“The first team had a great last season and we’re delighted to see them back where they belong for the next campaign – competing amongst Scotland’s top sides.
“The club is an important supporter of rugby with many teams competing across the divisions, as well as helping advance the women’s game in Scotland for many years.

Glen Gilson, the firm’s Managing Partner, who himself was educated at George Watson’s, and who has children at the school, said: “The firm is keen to support the local community, and we feel privileged to be able to support various local schools and sporting clubs across Scotland.”

Gilson Gray will also benefit from hospitality packages and will see its name appear on match programmes throughout the upcoming season.

The legal firm also supports rugby through the academies at Merchiston Castle School and at Glasgow Academy.

Ricky Cowan, another former Watsonian player and Business Development Director at Gilson Gray, said: “We understand the importance of reaching out to wide audiences of potential clients, therefore it is great to be able to do that whilst also supporting the sporting talent Watsonians is famed for.”

Gilson Gray, which in 2014 made history as Scotland’s largest ever full-service legal launch, has continued its trailblazing approach – with its ethos justified by significant increases in profit and by winning numerous awards including New Scottish Company of the Year and Law Firm of the Year.

Bucking industry trends of cutbacks and mergers, the firm, now comprising more than 70 staff and 18 partners, is signalling its intent to expand further in the coming year and is firmly on the acquisition trail.
