David is head of the Debt Recovery department.

He qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and has over 16 years experience in this field. David joined the firm from a small niche debt recovery firm in Edinburgh where he started his traineeship in 1997 and which he was assumed as a partner in 2004.

David specialises in dealing with commercial, contractural and building disputes. He is been appearing regularly in the Sheriff Court for over 16 years. He has conducted numerous proofs in that time, for clients ranging from sole traders and small businesses to Housing Associations and large building merchants. He has conducted a number of debates and has dealt with several Appeals to the Sheriff Principal. His expertise is such that many firms of solicitors both within and outwith Edinburgh choose to instruct David to appear in court on their clients' behalf. He had also been appointed to act as a Commissioner on numerous occasions on the instruction of other Edinburgh firms, with regards to the recovery of documents from Havers for the taking of evidence from witnesses.

David regularly handles cases in the Court of Session and has considerable experience with cases both in the Outer and Inner House. He has a good working relationship with a number of Advocates who specialise in the commercial arena. He receives regular instructions from firms outwith Edinburgh who instruct him to act as their Edinburgh Agent in their own Court of Session cases.

David also specialises in landlord and tenant disputes. He has acted for registered social landlords as well as private and commercial clients for many years. He has acted for a number of Letting Agents who relied on David to provide them with advice relating to terms of the lease agreements used by them, the ending of said agreements and the recovery of possessions of property in problem cases. He has extensive practical court experience of representing clients in court in such cases. He has provided training sessions to a number of his clients in this field, each session tailored to the particular needs of the client concerned.

Out of the office, David has a number of sporting interests. He still tries to play football and has been a lifelong supporter of Kilmarnock Football Club. He plays golf regularly and he attends his local gym when family life allows. He is a bit of film fanatic and likes nothing better than spending a night at the cinema.
