Stuart qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and has 25 years of experience of acting for FTSE 100 companies and public sector organisations in relation to all aspects of contentious and non contentious employment law.

Stuart has acted for global oil & gas companies, construction companies, rail and bus companies, local authorities, universities, fee paying schools, professional organisations, housing associations, medical practices and legal firms.

Stuart has advised and represented clients at Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal in relation to a wide range of matters including unfair dismissal, whistleblowing , discrimination and equal pay. In relation to transactional work, Stuart has advised companies regarding the employment law elements of business mergers, acquisitions and restructuring.

Stuart has experience of negotiating with trade unions in the public and private sectors and has advised clients on related matters including collective bargaining and strike ballots.

Stuart has a particular depth of experience in the field of discrimination law following a period as Head of Legal Affairs for CRE Scotland. He is a member of the Law Society of Scotland Accreditation Panel for Discrimination Law. And sits on the Law Society of Scotland Diversity and Equality Committee.

Stuart trained in the field of mediation and is accredited by Core Mediation as a mediator.

Stuart is a member of the Law Society of Scotland, a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development. He is ranked by Chambers Directory in the field of employment law which states that he has a strong technical knowledge and gives pragmatic advice.
