Philippa is a Partner and Head of Family Law at Gilson Gray. As a dual-qualified lawyer, Philippa is qualified to practise in England and Wales as well as Scotland. She is accredited as a specialist in Family Law by the Law Society of Scotland and a trained collaborative lawyer.

Specialising in Family Law, Philippa deals with a wide range of issues including relationship breakdown. She has particular expertise in complex jurisdictional issues and in the resolution of financial disputes as well as extensive experience in both negotiation and litigation.

She regularly deals with cases with an international dimension and has worked with fellow lawyers in jurisdictions around the world, from the United States to Australia and South Africa, as well as various European countries. Philippa is one of only seven Scottish based Fellows of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.

A highly experienced lawyer in wealth protection issues, Philippa often acts in the negotiation and preparation of Pre-Nuptial and Post-Nuptial Agreements, many of which have a cross-border or international dimension. Philippa regularly presents at seminars on issues relating to asset protection and financial provision on divorce and has written articles for various legal publications.

As a graduate from Aberdeen University in 1997 with an LLB (Hons) and Diploma in Legal Practice. Philippa went on to train at Loudons WS, remaining there after qualifying. In 2001, she then joined Turcan Connell where she assumed the role of Partner in April 2006. Philippa then remained with Turcan Connell until May 2012 at which time she was appointed to head up the Family Law Team as a Partner at HBJ Gateley. With effect from 1 May 2017, Philippa joined Gilson Gray as a Partner and Head of Family Law.

Philippa is a member of the Family Law Association in Scotland and also of Resolution. The current Chambers UK Guide describes her as “a really constructive lawyer who always knows exactly what she’s doing” and quotes a source as commenting "By virtue of her brilliance, I'd be happy to refer anything to her. She's so sharp, clever and practical."
