Ken is a Legal Director in our Litigation & Dispute Resolution Team. He specialises in high value personal injury, medical negligence and other professional negligence cases but is also instructed in wider litigation.

His recent personal injury highlights have included successfully acting for several victims of the Clutha Vaults accident in November 2013, obtaining substantial damages for members of a German family following a fatal road traffic accident in Scotland and pursuing an action against a local authority based on the Protection from Harassment legislation.

Within the area of clinical negligence he has a particular interest in birth injury claims and his most recent success was based on a structured settlement involving a seven figure lump sum payment together with an index linked annual sum.

His practice extends to other professional negligence claims, which have recently included pursuing actions arising from a naval architect’s negligence and from a fishing vessel skipper’s actings.
He has been instructed in actions against solicitors over the years and is a member of the Pursuers’ Panel of the Law Society of Scotland.

For many years, Ken has also been instructed by other solicitors throughout Scotland as an Edinburgh agent in actions in the Court of Session or simply in a consultancy role.

Ken is also a Solicitor Advocate

Outside the office, he is a member of the Insurance Committee of the Law Society of Scotland, whose functions include negotiating professional indemnity insurance arrangements for solicitors in private practice in Scotland and putting in place an annual risk management programme for Scottish solicitors. Having also been his previous firm’s Client Relations Manager for seven years, he is keenly aware of the need to deliver a service which meets client’s expectations.

Away from work, Ken enjoys spending his time with his family.
