The world is a global marketplace. More and more businesses are trading internationally in order to remain competitive. Not only is the trade in products but also in commercial services, particularly with the access provided through online trade. With international trade comes the potential for international disputes. However, it is clear that there are significant disadvantages of such disputes being tried before the national courts of your opponents (with issues of bribery, corruption and bias always being a real concern); and there is a desire to find neutral decision makers to resolve such transnational disputes. That is where more and more parties are contracting to submit any disputes to International Commercial Arbitration or International Investment Arbitration.
We advise on all facets of transnational trade, including drafting and negotiation of international contracts; contract management and implementation; dispute avoidance; and dispute resolution. We are specialists in International Arbitration. Unlike other Firms in Scotland who claim to have experience of this preferred method of transnational dispute resolution (but rely on expertise from other jurisdictions), we have significant hands-on experience of conducting international arbitrations in Scotland, the United Kingdom and in many countries throughout the World. We can advise you on the benefits for your business, and provide a complete service, conducting international arbitrations from start to finish, including preparation and conduct of the advocacy in the UK and abroad.
