12 Debts of Christmas - Part 4

We all know that cash is tight at this time of year. All those presents to buy, all those Christmas parties to pay for. Gilson Gray can help with any cash flow issues that you have, whether that be the recovery of debts due to you, or by giving you advice to help alleviate those issues. Here is our “12 Debts of Christmas” present to you; some interesting nuggets of information, some not so, and hidden amongst all that is our Christmas Present to you.

3. Three Types of Sheriff Court Procedure – when it comes to the recovery of debt in the Sheriff Courts, there are three different procedures that apply; small claims (£0-£2,999.99), summary cause (£3,000-£4,999.99) and ordinary cause (£5,000 plus). There are different rules that apply to each. At Gilson Gray we have an intimate knowledge of the rules in each procedure, and importantly how they are applied by each Sheriff Court in Scotland.

2. Two Percent Increase – the projected interest rate increase for 2015 is 2%. That could lead to many people defaulting on loans making it less likely that you will get paid. So it is important that you keep a close eye on your credit control procedures and pass any outstanding accounts to us as soon as possible.

1. We are the NUMBER ONE CHOICE – Gilson Gray can help you with all Debt and finance related issues. Just give us a call and pass us your unpaid invoices and leave the rest to us.”
